The Armenian Foreign Ministry reports that the special representatives of Armenian and Turkey met today in Moscow and agreed to continue talks designed to normalize relations between the two countries without preconditions.

Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan represents Yerevan at the talks and Ankara is represented by former Turkish ambassador to the U.S. Serdar Kılıç.

The ministry says the first round of talks was held in a “constructive atmosphere”.

“The date and location of the second meeting will be decided in due time through diplomatic channels,” the ministry said in a statement released today.

Update: The Turkish Foreign Ministry today issued a statement on the Moscow meeting that, word for word, is the same as the statement issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
