On September 19, Azerbaijan unleashed another large-scale unprovoked aggression against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, aimed at completing Baku’s genocidal policy against indigenous Christian Armenians of Artsakh.
Guided by a sense of impunity, Azerbaijan openly took responsibility for the aggression. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that “anti-terrorist measures” are being launched in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. And all this is happening under the watchful eyes of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno Karabakh; of the joint Russian-Turkish monitoring center; of the UN Security Council and UN as a whole.
Condemnation of Azerbaijan’s genocidal aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh and the mass atrocity and crimes is not enough. The international community must intervene. First and foremost, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chairs France, United States and Russia should secure immediate cessation of unprovoked aggression by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh.
The continuation of the series of unprovoked acts of aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh exactly three years ago, in September, 2020 must come to end.
The false Azerbaijani pretext of “destroying military objects” in Nagorno-Karabakh must be rejected. For their many crimes against humanity, the Azerbaijani authorities should be personally held responsible and be subjected to Justice in the International Court.
In the meantime, world Armenians and friends of Armenia must mobilize in order to lend a humanitarian helping hand in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh.
All religious leaders — especially Righteous Muslim leaders in the region and around the world must reject genocidal Azerbaijani despot Ilham Aliyev’s misuse of the Muslim religion against Christian Armenians.
In the meantime, the sooner the Armenian Nation realizes that no external power will come to our people’s aid and that only we can help ourselves, the better. There are great historic examples:In 1917 when all of a sudden Russia retreated from Turkish-occupied Western Armenia and the Caucasus, Armenians found themselves all alone vis-à-vis Turkey. But that adverse geopolitical and military development didn’t succeed to bring Armenians down to their knees. Armenians rallied and scored a resounding victory in May 1918 at Sardarapat Battlefront. That victory paved the way to Armenian independence;
In 1920, when Soviet Russia made a come-back and wanted to dismember Armenia by giving away the three Armenian provinces – Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh, Nakhichevan and Southern Armenian region of Syunik, Armenians took a stand. Even though Yerevan, Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh and Nakhichevan were overrun by the Soviet Red Army, Armenians took a stand and under General Njdeh mounted impressive resistance in Syunik. Eventually, General Nejdeh and his soldiers succeeded in making Soviet Kremlin and Ataturk’s Ankara agree to leaving Syunik as an integral part of then newly-Sovietized Socialist Republic of Armenia. Syunik turned out to be the most valuable land-bridge connecting the world’s land masses’ North-South, East-West. Armenian Syunik: An important victory for sovereign Armenians;
In late 1980’s-early ‘90’s, when Soviet Union had collapsed and Russia once again disappeared from the South Caucasus, Armenians, once again alone, faced the joint Turkish-Azerbaijani military forces and prevailed registering an impressive victory in the First Artsakh Liberation War.
Now in the aftermath of the disastrous 44-day anti-Armenian aggression by Azerbaijan-Turkey-Israel-ISIS, Syunik has re-emerged as the biggest prize for regional and international powers. Why Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Israel (New Axis Powers) are doing everything to orchestrate military occupation of Syunik? Many political analysts agree that if the New Axis Powers control Syunik, will control the Greater Middle Eastern, African and European markets. If the New Axis Powers succeed, Iran, India, United States and Europe can kiss good-bye to their geopolitical aspirations in the South Caucasus and much of the world.
However, if they come to some sort of consensus and support Armenia/Artsakh’s Sovereignty, Independence and Defence then they may collectively avert a huge geopolitical imbalance. Geopolitical imbalance has multilayered ramifications which can easily fuel large-scale wars.
