PARIS (Combined sources) — Up until Saturday Aug. 3, Armenia had not made it to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Medal Chart. But by Wednesday August 8, three Armenian Olympians — Artur Aleksanyan, Artur Davtyan and Malkhas Amoyan helped Armenia make it to the 2024 Olympic Games Medal Chart.
The Armenian republic appeared on the chart thanks to the heroic achievements by the Armenian Olympians who helped Armenia secure two silver and one bronze medals. Now Armenia ranks 55th among 206 countries participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Artur Aleksanyan Wins Silver Medal
Artur Aleksanyan, gold, silver and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, four-time world champion, seven-time European champion, will fight for the title of two-time Olympic champion.
In the semifinals of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 97 kg weight category Artur Aleksanyan fought against Gabriel Alejandro Rosillo Kindelan from Cuba, the world champion, the Pan American Games champion, the winner of the Pan American Championships, and won with the score 5:3.
Earlier the same day, Aleksanyan emerged victorious in the 1/8 Final match against S. Kim of Korean Republic with an impressive 9-0 score. Next, in the 1/4 Final match against Rustam Assakalov, a dual citizen of both Russia and Uzbekistan, Aleksanyan registered an impressive 9-5 score. Wednesday’s face-off in the Final Aleksanyan wrestled for the gold medal against Mohammad Hadi Saravi of Islamic Republic of Iran. Saravi won the Gold Medal and Aleksanyan the Silver. The final score: 4-1
Artur Aleksanyan is a London 2012 bronze medalist, Rio 2016 gold medalist and Tokyo 2020 silver medalist. Paris-2024 is Alexanian’s fourth Olympic Games.
Artur Davtyan Wins Silver Medal
Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medalist, world champion, two-time European champion, three-time World Cup winner, and European Games champion Artur Davtyan (Armenia) became an Olympic silver medalist—with excellent jumps.
Davtyan scored 14.966 points in the sum of his two jumps in the Vault exercise in the artistic gymnastics’ competition at the 33rd Summer Olympics being held in Paris.
He scored 14.966 points in both jumps.
Davtyan had overcome, with 14.666 points, the barrier of the qualifying round.
Two-time world silver medalist and 10-time champion of Asia Carlos Yulo became the Olympic champion for the second time in Paris 2024, 15.116 points. The Filipino gymnast had also won a gold medal in free exercises at the Paris Olympic Games.
Malkhas Amoyan Wins Bronze Medal
Greco-Roman wrestler, world champion, and three-time European champion Malkhas Amoyan won a bronze medal in the 77 kg weight class at the Olympic Games held in Paris.
In a decisive match, Amoyan competed against Aram Vardanyan, an Armenian wrestler representing Uzbekistan, and won 6-5 over his opponent.
Amoyan beat Finnish representative Johnny Kunari Sarkkine early in the 1/8 round, then defeated Iranian Amin Kaviyaninejad with a score of 3-0. In the semi-finals, the representative of Armenia lost to Japan’s Nao Kusaka 3-1.

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 started on July 26, 2024 and will culminate on August 11, 2024.
The 15-day international athletic extravaganza has attracted over ten thousand athletes representing 206 countries.
So far, the United States and China top the list. They are the top two medal-garnering giants. As of August 7, Team USA was in first position and had garnered 27 gold medals, 35 silver and 32 bronze totaling 94 medals. China was in second position and had garnered 25 gold medals, 23 silver and 17 bronze totaling 65 medals.
