Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national football team head coach Robert Prosinecki resigned immediately after his side slumped to a 4-2 defeat to Armenia in Euro 2020 qualifying Group J on Sunday.

During the post-match press conference, Prosinecki said he had spoken with many people and decided to offer his resignation, Xinhua reports.

“When I arrived, I believed we would qualify for Euro 2020. We have not succeeded in this and my successor will have time to prepare the team for the Nations League,” Prosinecki said.

The Croatian offered his congratulations to Armenia, saying they were worthy winners.

“We also had some opportunities, but we were not at their level. They wanted victory more,” Prosinecki acknowledged.

The former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder was in charge of Bosnia for a total of 18 games, achieving seven wins, six draws and five losses.
