After a month-long hiatus, the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has reopened its scholarship program for the 2021-2022 academic year. It includes some changes, as well as a new short term scholarship category to encourage and support research on contemporary Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).
The Department supports Armenian university students and young academics, as well as Armenian Studies scholars, around the world. Every year, between 200 and 300 students and academics benefit from Gulbenkian scholarships, in varying amounts. The scholarship program restarted on January 18 with a slightly higher yearly budget of 1.2 million US dollars, and with some changes and updates to reflect current realities in the Armenian world.
