Aragats Military Electronics Manufacturer Looks to Export Products

YEREVAN — Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan visited Aragats company engaged in the production of military and defense equipment. The company founded back in 1992 now specializes in the design, development and mass production of electronic devices for military use. 

Accompanied by the head of the company, Hovhannes Gharibyan, the Minister toured the company, got acquainted with the recent reforms and production volumes. 

The thermal monitoring device for the anti-tank Fagot system has been completely designed and manufactured in this company. The director of the company noted that while similar devices are being produced in different countries, the Armenian one is not inferior to them in terms of quality, and is about four times cheaper. 

Hovhannes Gharibyan emphasized that the manufactured devises are used by the Armenian Ministry of Defense, but the production volumes and the factory’s capacity allow us to explore export opportunities for its products. Reference was also made to the issue of recruitment of personnel. It was noted that over the past 10 years, the company’s staff has increased almost tenfold. Employees are highly qualified mechanics, electronics specialists, physicists and programmers. There was also a proposal by the Ministry to implement a joint project in engineering education. 

During the meeting, the possibilities of expansion of production areas, creation of new infrastructures, options for their implementation were discussed. 

Mkhitar Hayrapetyan expressed his support for the creation of new infrastructures, emphasized the implementation of programs aimed at the permanent development and expansion of the military industry sector. 

Since 2018, the funds provided for scientific and technical research in the defense sector have increased several times, as a result of which a number of Armenian companies of the military-industrial complex, including Aragats LLC, have expanded the scope of development and production volumes.
