The Board of Directors of the Union Culturelle Française des Arméniens de France (UCFAF) issued a press release in Paris on July 26, mourning the passing of A famous anti-Nazi resistance fighter, a French Armenian woman warrior, defender of Jews and Jewish Holocaust survivors, Jeanne BORZAKIAN.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Jeanne BORZAKIAN on July 22 in her 103rd year.
The life and history of Jeanne is one of the painful pages of the 20th century, on its own it symbolizes the destiny of two peoples, one by proxy through her husband Puzant, survivor of the Armenian genocide, and that of Jewish people, victim of the Jewish Holocaust.
For political reasons, at the end of the 1920s her family fled Poland to seek refuge in France.
It was before the war that Puzant, a friend of his brother Charles, met Jeanne, and all three later joined the resistance.
The eldest of five children, Jeanne BORZAKIAN by her maiden name CYVIÉ was born in Poland in Lask, on December 14, 1918.
Despite her young age in 1935, Jeanne became politically acrtive joined the popular front and the great strikes of 1936.
Deported, Jeanne’s parents never returned from the Auschwitz extermination camp.
His younger sister Rosette was subjected to deportation in June 1944; but she was released by the Soviet army a year after her arrest.
Engaged in the Resistance, Jeannette joined the MOI after having escaped arrest.
The life of Jeannette and her husband Puzant, who were united by marriage in 1947, is an extraordinary destiny which bears witness to a tragic history, crossed by the dramas of the 20th century.
A member of UCFAF where she participated in all activities, her death is a page of history that will remain in the memory of the new generation.
