Urartu midfielder Aras Ozbiliz has announced his retirement from football.
“Football gave me more than I could ever imagine,” he told a news conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.
“I am quitting my football career, but this marks the beginning of a new path,” said Ozbiliz, a former player of the Armenian national football team.
He unveiled his decision to run for president of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) in the upcoming elections.
“I’ve always said that I want to be useful to Armenian football after my retirement. I think Armenian football is now at an important crossroads. I have decided to be nominated as FFA president. I can be greatly useful [to Armenian football] with my experience and devotion,” Ozbiliz noted.
