Armenian Foreign Minister and Kamal Kharazi, who serves as adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, met in Yerevan today and discussed security and stability in the South Caucasus in addition to greater energy and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran.
Mirzoyan, according to his office, extended the Armenian government’s condolences for the January 3 suicide bombing in the southeastern Iranian town of Kerman that killed nearly one hundred.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack at a commemoration for the late General Qassem Soleimani, the leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s expeditionary Quds Force, who had been killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike in Baghdad.
Kharazi, a former Iranian foreign minister, also heads Iran’s Strategic Council of Foreign Relations.
