Chief of staff of the Armenian prime minister’s office, Arayik Harutyunyan, who is in Manama at the invitation of Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, attended the Congress of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Wednesday.
A document signed during the aforesaid confirmed Armenia’s right to host the World Weightlifting Championships and bilateral obligations during the 2027 World Weightlifting Championships.
In his remarks, Harutyunyan thanked IWF President Mohammed Jalood, General Secretary Antonio Urso, and other members of the IWF Executive Committee for providing such an opportunity to Armenia.
Harutyunyan noted that, in fact, Armenia will become a major sports center in 2027 because in addition to the World Weightlifting Championships, the La Francophonie Games as well as the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships also will be held in Yerevan that year, and invited the Congress participants to spend those days in the Armenian capital.
