On October 19, Armenians from around the world witnessed the historic canonization of Archbishop Ignatius Maloyan, martyred during the 1915 genocide, at St. Peter’s Square in Rome. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, and Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian attended the ceremony, alongside hundreds of members of the Armenian diaspora. This moment honored Maloyan’s unwavering faith and heroic martyrdom, while celebrating the resilience and spiritual vitality of Armenian Christians and the broader Eastern Churches. The canonization stands as a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of Armenian Christian heritage worldwide. While in Rome, PM Pashinyan paid a courtesy visit to Cilicia Armenian Catholics Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian. A Polish politican Tomasz Lech Buczek wrote on his Facebook page: “It was very kind of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to visit the Armenian Catholics in Rome today. It was the first time I saw the Prime Minister pray.”
