YEREVAN. /ARКА/. The Yerevan Municipality is preparing to announce four tenders for the construction of a new Surmalu metro station in Yerevan. According to her, the tender for the feasibility study will be held on October 27. “This tender was announced again because the previous one was cancelled due to a lack of participants,” Babayan said at a meeting at City Hall on Monday. She also stated that the tender package for the development concept for the area adjacent to the future station and the station’s design are already ready, and a tender for these issues will be announced soon. “Two tenders are also being prepared, these will be announced in a timely manner, and the results of all four tenders will allow us to begin negotiations to attract private investment,” Babayan noted. The exact location of the 12th Surmalu metro station is currently unclear. It is expected to be located between the two existing Sasuntsi David and Zoravar Andranik metro stations, providing access to two shopping centers, Surmalu and Petak, and an alternative public transportation option on Sevan Street. This will help relieve traffic congestion in the area. The mayor previously stated that the design work for the Surmalu station would be financed with 400 million drams of community funds.
