The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, together with its local partner organizations, has launched the “Homeland and Eternity” fundraising campaign now in its 33rd year, once again uniting Armenians worldwide with a focus this year on reconstructing damaged sections of the Spandaryan Canal in Syunik province, presenting the campaign in a new format that replaces the traditional telethon with reflections and conversations on the notion of homeland featuring prominent public and cultural figures, accompanied by three motivational video messages filmed in Syunik and the Spandaryan Canal and reservoir basin that convey the Fund’s renewed vision of unity, highlight that the canal—beginning at an altitude of 2,280 meters and currently up to 70 percent damaged—has left multiple settlements without irrigation water, and call for immediate support to preserve Armenia’s water resources, a message that has gained strong backing particularly among younger Armenians and dozens of organizations that have already contributed, while the reconstruction is vital for the communities of Sarnakunq, Ishkhanasar, Tsghuk, Spandaryan, Angeghakot, and Shaki, directly benefiting 730 families or 4,320 residents and enabling effective irrigation of 2,800 hectares of land with strong economic potential, and as part of the campaign Armenian President and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Trustees Vahagn Khachaturyan met in late November with representatives of the banking sector and major enterprises where the importance of the canal project was emphasized by Central Bank Chairman Martin Galstyan, Union of Banks Chairman Daniel Azatyan, and Union of Industrialists and Businessmen Chairman Arsen Ghazaryan, with Public Television of Armenia supporting the campaign’s promotion, communications company AxelMondrian developing the concept and videos, and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund—since independence the first organization to unite homeland and diaspora—continuing its mission of mobilizing Armenians each November to address urgent challenges and improve quality of life, having to date united over 1.5 million Armenians and invested more than USD 500 million in over 1,500 projects, while transitioning in 2024 to program-based fundraising to ensure greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability, with this year’s month-long campaign concluding in a comprehensive public report.
