Five Armenian boxers have advanced to the semifinals of the World Boxing Championships in Dubai, securing at least bronze medals for the national team. World silver medalist Davit Chaloyan (+92kg) and European silver medalist Rafayel Hovhannisyan (86kg) secured their places with confident quarterfinal victories. Hovhannisyan defeated Ecuador’s Mario Javier Suárez 4-1 to claim his first medal at a senior World Championships. Chaloyan followed with a domi- nant 5-0 win over Kazakhstan’s Nurlan Saparbay. In the 51kg category, Rudolf Garboyan also booked his semifinal spot at the 2025 tournament. Earlier, European silver medalist Artur Bazeyan (60kg) and Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Hovhannes Bachkov had already ensured bronze medals, bring- ing Armenia’s total guaranteed podium finishes to five.
