Vladimir Akopian becomes US seniors’ chess champion

Vladimir Akopian, three-time (2006, 2008 and 2012) World Chess Olympiad champion and 8th World Team Championship (2011) winner as part of Team Armenia, has won the US Senior Chess Championship 2024 title in St. Louis.
The 52-year-old chess grandmaster amassed 7 points out of 9 possible without suffering a single defeat.
And Grandmaster Melikset Khachiyan finished sixth, with 4 points.
