A key section of the main runway and Taxiway “Alpha” (TWY A) at Zvartnots International Airport, stretching from Apron 1 (MTWY) to TWY A, has been fully renovated and reopened after being out of service since the 1970s, covering a total area of approximately 53,200 m² (1,400 m x 38 m), and its launch is expected to significantly enhance the airport’s operational capacity by enabling more efficient ground movement of aircraft, increasing total aircraft movements by around 35%, reducing congestion, and boosting the number of flights the airport can serve, while the upgraded area is designed to accommodate heavy cargo aircraft and serve as an additional evacuation route, as part of the airport’s broader development program aimed at delivering a high-quality, safe, and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
