YEREVAN /ARKA/. Earthworks for the construction of a road between Isa- kov and Arshakunyats Avenues under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) program will begin in mid-June in Yerevan, announced Anetta Babayan, Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan. “From May to mid-June, the de- tailed schedule approval process will be completed, and advance payments under the guarantees will begin. Re- sources and equipment will be mobi- lized,” she noted at a working meeting at City Hall on Monday. Babayan announced that an $80 million loan will be received from the ADB, including government co- financing. “All tenders under the program have been held, and contracts have been signed,” Babayan said. The pro- gram includes the construction of a road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues, a 269-meter reinforced con- crete bridge across the Hrazdan River, and the reconstruction and landscaping of the area adjacent to Komitas Park. The road will provide a direct con- nection between three administrative districts of Yerevan (Malatia-Sebastia, Downtown, and Shengavit), facilitat- ing the redistribution of traffic flows. Construction was previously sched- uled to begin in 2023, but bureaucratic obstacles related to completing land acquisition procedures and resettling residents from the areas encompassing the construction site have delayed the deadline.
