Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Rus- sian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders discussed the Armenia-Russia bilateral agenda, with a particular focus on challenges affect- ing economic relations. According to the Armenian govern- ment, Pashinyan stressed that restric- tions on the export of Armenian-origin products to the Russian market contra- dict the legal and contractual frame- work governing Armenia-Russia rela- tions, as well as the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He asked the Russian president to take steps to resolve the issue. Addressing the possibility of a referendum in Armenia on European Union membership, referenced in the joint statement adopted by the leaders of four EAEU member states on May 29, Pashinyan said such a referendum would only be practically possible af- ter Armenia officially submits an ap- plication for EU membership, making the issue a concrete matter for consid- eration. The prime minister also reaffirmed the Armenian government’s readiness to address these issues through open, constructive and friendly dialogue with its partners.
