Recently a Recently a reader of USA Armenian Life conducted a brief conversation with Mr. Margaryan. Below is the text.

  • Mr. Margaryan, as a renowned actor in Armenian Diaspora, your accomplishments in cinema and theater as well as your participation in movies and soap operas have gained recognition. Recently there was the screening of “Agent 044” in Los Angeles where you played one of the leading roles. Why weren’t you present at that event?
  • It’s nice to hear that Armenian audiences in America follow and appreciate my work as an actor· Afterall, an artist’s mission is to inspire and nourish his audience. In spite of my great desire to be present at the screening event and to see how the audience viewed it, and what their response was to the film, due to my demanding schedule, I was not able to attend.
Recently, I also missed a few other film premieres in Los Angeles like “The Line 2” and so on. My work volume is quite more in theater then cinema and TV. This year I have been filmed in four movies, and the fifth one is in the process. It is called “Anatolian History” by director Hrach Keshishyan. In addition, in early October, another movie with my participation will be screened; it is called “My cross”. By the way, most of the films have generated marked interest among audience members. I think these works will soon be available to American-Armenian audiences.
  • We also remember very well the character of the Monk M?vses that you played in Alex Theater years ago in Levon Shant’s performance “Ancient Gods”, staged when the G. Sundukyan Academic Theater was in Los Angeles while touring U.S. Can we look forward to such tours again in the near future?
  • It’s great that you remember. It is wonderful. Yes, it was definitely a wonderful tour. It was brilliantly organized by The American Armenian Musical & Theatrical Society. The audience welcomed the performance very warmly, and instead of the three scheduled performances, we played four. The tour was highly praised by the City of Glendale, the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia, The Armenian Church and many other organizations. For new tours, I hope there will be such opportunities in the near future.
  • You are one of the leading actors of the G. Sundukyan Theater Co.” — main theater of Armenia “; what new performances are expected with your participation?
  • At the moment, I am in a very interesting creative process; the famous work of famous American writer Ken Keseey “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” is being staged at the theater. I am playing the chief role of McMurphy; the staging director is Armen Elbakyan, People’s Artist of Republic of Armenia. It is a deep psychological drama that explores the theme of human soul and freedom from the complexities. This role is played by Jack Nicholson in the famous American film. Therefore, this work may possibly be presented and offer an insight into our artistic universes for art-loving American-Armenian audiences.
