Is the 44-day Turkey/Azerbaijan aggression against Armenians in 2020 the last genocidal war by Baku?
Recently, an Azerbaijani Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Jumshud Nuriyev reportedly made a bombastic prediction for the latter part of 2021 regarding the future of his country. Based on certain data gathered from a number of secret documents, he stated that maintaining Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is in question.
He further said: “If my predictions come to life, then, according to the scenario, Azerbaijan will be divided among three states, and I declare this with full responsibility. The picture will be as follows: Our territories stretching north along the left bank of the Kura River will entirely join Russia, the territories between the rivers Kura and Araks will join the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the rest will join Nagorno Karabakh and will be fully integrated into the Republic of Armenia.”
In a separate statement, former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili reportedly noted about Azerbaijan on his personal page (that statement was later removed): “Long live the despotic and backward state of Azerbaijan, which we will soon divide up. Nakhichevan and the territories between the rivers Kura and Araks must be returned to Armenia, on the remaining lands several states can be created based on nationalities. Azerbaijan is an artificially created country that will disappear.”
Whether these unconfirmed predictions come to fruition, Armenians have a long way to go in their national quest for an independent Artsakh Republic (Nagorno Karabakh) and ultimate reunification with Armenia.
Before they start raising their expectations on such an earth-shattering geopolitical development, Armenians have much soul-searching to do in order to put their act together.
They must ask all the hard questions as to What did go wrong during the 44-Day Turkey/Azerbaijan Aggression Against Armenians?
Were all the Armenian generals on the same page? Or, an important segment was co-opted by internal and external forces that wittingly or unwittingly undermined the Armenian war efforts?
As for Azerbaijan’s future, it is a well-known fact that in 1920, Soviet despot Josef Stalin ‘gifted’ to artificially-created Republic of Azerbaijan the Armenian territories of Nakhichevan and Artsakh (Karabakh).
Aside from the territorial conflicts with Armenians, Baku also has a litany of territorial conflicts with other minorities inside what is now called Azerbaijan as follows: 1) ARTSAKH; 2) AVAR; 3) BUDUKH; 4) LEZGI; 5) NAKHICHEVAN; 6) TALYSH; 7) TSAKHOUR; 8) UDIK; 9) N. WEST IRAN; 10) PAYTAKARAN. (See Map)

But before focusing on dismantling Azerbaijan, Armenians must bring their national house to order through the formation of a National Truth Commission.
Mandate that Commission to shed light on internal dark chapters and empower the civil society to learn from the mistakes of its recent past.
As the biblical quote states “And the truth shall set you free.”
Only then, can Armenia move forward.
In this regard, USA Armenian Life Magazine’s editorial board renews its commitment to its readers to assist in uncovering the Truth.
Thank you Mr. Jabarian. We all hope these production by Professor Jumshud Nuriyev and former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili will one day become a reality.
