Following a request filed by Armenia, the European Court of Human Rights has demanded that Azerbaijan, by June 6, provide information regarding two Armenian soldiers detained on May 26 near the town of Zangilan (Kovsakan).
Baku announced the two were part of a larger group of Armenian saboteurs, a claim refuted by Armenia.
The Armenian Defense Ministry claimed the two soldiers operated a vehicle supplying food and water to Armenian combat positions near the border and had lost their way.
The Court wants Baku to answer the following:
Are the two servicemen under the control of Azerbaijan in a captive or other status?
If so, the Court demands from Azerbaijan to provide information about the conditions of detention and medical examinations of the servicemen.
