Suren Chakhalyan, caretaker manager of the Armenian national football team, responded to the reporters’ questions after the 2-1 win against Latvia in Matchday 6—the last round—of the UEFA Nations League group stage Sunday.

“Both teams gave [their] everything to achieve victory on the pitch. Some things didn’t work out so well [for Armenia] at the beginning of the first half, but we were able to make a change in the first half and at halftime and the game changed in the second half. The boys [of the Armenian squad] were able to fulfill the task, and the result was goals and a victory. (…). This tournament is also a lesson so that we don’t repeat in the future the mistakes that happened,” Chakhalyan noted, in particular.

Armenia finished second, with 7 points, in Group 4 of League C of the Nations League, and will play a playoff match for a place in the B Division.

The winners of this group were North Macedonia, which beat the Faroe Islands 1-0 in Matchday 6 and finished with 16 points.

The national teams that placed second in the four groups of League C will compete in the playoffs with the national squads that finished third in the four groups of League B.

The draws for these playoffs will be held on Friday, and the matches will be played in March 2025.
