YEREVAN, /ARKA/. Veolia Jur will invest about 5 billion drams in 2025 to modernize the drinking water infrastructure in various districts of Yerevan, said Levon Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan.
“The company reports that there are certain water losses and a need to modernize the infrastructure. In particular, a lot of work is required in the Nubarashen administrative district, new projects will be implemented in the Kond neighborhood, as well as in some areas of the Malatia-Sebastia and Ajapnyak administrative districts,” Hovhannisyan said at a working meeting at City Hall on Monday.
According to him, the City Hall will provide Veolia Jur CJSC with permits for construction work, and the company has assured that the work will begin promptly.
In recent years, water supply and drainage issues have become some of the most pressing problems in Yerevan. For instance, the frequency and duration of water supply interruptions for citizens have increased, and during heavy rains, the city faces flooding due to non-functional (or absent in some areas) storm drains, as well as littered water wells, tunnels, and other engineering structures.
