One of the most powerful and emo- tionally charged works in world mu- sic, Hector Berlioz’s Requiem (Grande Messe des Morts), will be performed in Armenia for the first time in 45 years on 23 December. The concert will take place at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Aca- demic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan. It will feature the Armenian National Academic Choir alongside the orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater, conducted by re- nowned maestro Hovhannes Tcheki- djian. According to the Opera Theater, the Armenian National Academic Choir last performed this monumental work during a concert tour in Lithu- ania in 1980. Decades later, Armenian audiences will once again have the op- portunity to experience Berlioz’s mas- terpiece live.
