YEREVAN — A public display of newly acquired military equipment will take place in Yerevan’s Republic Square on May 28, marking Republic Day. The an- nouncement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government briefing on March 26. According to the Prime Minister, the event will not be a traditional military parade, but rather a form of “reporting” to the citizens of Armenia. “We are working on this issue with our international partners. A military pa- rade is a very sensitive matter and may create the impression of deviating from the peace agenda. We will continue working with our international partners, in- cluding countries in the region, to ensure that it is not perceived as abandoning the peace agenda,” Pashinyan explained. He added that the decision to publicly display the new equipment was driven by strong public interest. Due to the high number of citizens requesting access to view the equipment, organizing group visits became impractical. The open display will also help prevent potential misinformation. “I believe this will be an impressive sight for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan noted.
