YEREVAN /ARKA/. Regulations on “Parental Hour” came into force in Armenia on July 10, the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported.
According to the new rules, work- ing parents, as well as foster parents, adoptive parents, and guardians, may be temporarily absent from work to care for and raise a child, participate in the educational process, and address other issues related to the child’s interests. The Ministry of Social Affairs re- ported that “Parental Hour” is granted as follows: • Parents of one or two children un- der 12 years of age — up to 30 minutes per day; • Parents of three or more children under 12 years of age — up to one hour per day; • Parents of a child under 18 with se- vere or profound functional limitations — up to one hour per day, regardless of the number of children. Parental leave is granted upon the employee’s written request, and the em- ployer has no right to refuse it. During the parental leave period, the employee retains their base salary, or, if paid on a piecework basis, their aver- age salary excluding bonuses.
