YEREVAN /ARKA/. The TRIPP proj-ect, being implemented in Armenia, will not compete with traditional transport routes passing through Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Ko-bakhidze stated. “As for the TRIPP route-which is an alternative route—we do not view it as a competitor. One simple reason is that cargo turnover along the Middle Corridor has grown so significantly that there is an objective need for di-versification,” Kobakhidze said on the Imedi TV channel. According to him, Tbilisi does not believe that TRIPP—or any other new route poses a significant threat to the traditional transport corridors running through Georgian territory. Kobakhidze noted that cargo turnover along the Middle Corridor has increased sevenfold since 2020, necessitating the development of additional in-trastructure. In this context, he pointed to the development of the Anaklia port, the potential expansion of the Poti port, the development of aviation infrastructure and high-speed highways, as well as railway modernization. “I reiterate that TRIPP is not a competitor to our route. Given the current trends in the Middle Corridor, it will actually complement it,” Kobakhidze stated.
