CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The ArtNova Choir of Boston presented its inaugural concert April 12, 2026, at Holy Trin- ity Armenian Church, marking a new milestone for the ensemble under the direction of Maestro Artur Veranian. Veranian is an international con- ductor, choral director and music edu- cator whose career spans decades of artistic leadership. A Doctor of Mu- sic, he has founded and led numerous ensembles since the 1970s, including the Yerevan Women’s Chamber Choir, which has earned recognition and awards throughout Europe, the former Soviet Union and Armenia. In the Boston area, Veranian con- tinues to shape generations of singers through his disciplined approach to vo- cal technique and choral artistry. As ar- tistic director of the ArtNova Choir of Boston and the Nanor Junior Perform- ing Choir, both programs of Hamaz- kayin Boston—a nonprofit cultural or- ganization dedicated to preserving and promoting Armenian heritage through education, music and the arts—he re- mains committed to cultivating musi- cal excellence across all ages and lev- els. ArtNova’s performance spanned sacred and folkloric traditions of Komitas to the classical brilliance of Mozart and beyond, reflecting both a deep respect for Armenian musical heritage and a forward-looking artistic vision. Guided by Maestro Veranian’s leadership and enriched by the accom- paniment of organist Nune Hakobyan, the 25-voice ensemble—featuring so- loists Tatevik Kocharyan and Nicole Atesian Simmons—delivered a perfor- mance marked by cohesion, sensitivity and expressive depth.
