YEREVAN — On March 28, Arme- nia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoy- an held a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Repub- lic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, ac- cording to Armenia’s Ministry of For- eign Affairs. During the call, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest develop- ments in the Middle East and discussed possible avenues for reaching a resolu- tion to the situation. They also touched upon humanitarian issues, as well as matters on the multilateral agenda. Earlier, on March 23, Foreign Min- ister Mirzoyan had announced that the Republic of Armenia had sent humani- tarian aid to Iran, primarily in the form of medical supplies. The ongoing conflict, which began with U.S. and Israeli military opera- tions against Iran on February 28, has since expanded to include Arab coun- tries of the Persian Gulf and Lebanon. According to multiple reports, the es- calation has resulted in the deaths of several senior figures within Iran’s military and political leadership, in- cluding Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
