STRASBOURG — The European Parliament has adopted a resolution with 476 votes in favor, expressing full support for Armenia’s parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026. The resolution underscores the im- portance of transparency in the elec- toral process, media pluralism, and the protection of fundamental freedoms. It also highlights the role of international and domestic observer missions, par- ticularly the OSCE Office for Demo- cratic Institutions and Human Rights, in ensuring fair elections. European lawmakers warned of potential Russian interference, con- demning hybrid threats such as disin- formation campaigns, cyberattacks, and illicit political financing through oligarchic networks. The resolution welcomes the strengthening of Armenia–EU rela- tions and Armenia’s legislative steps toward potential EU membership. It also points to upcoming events in Ye- revan—including the European Politi- cal Community summit and the first EU–Armenia summit—as signs of growing cooperation. Regarding regional security, the Parliament reaffirmed its support for a comprehensive peace agreement be- tween Armenia and Azerbaijan, em- phasizing sovereignty, territorial integ- rity, and the inviolability of borders.
