PANAMA CITY, FL — JUNE 2026 — Ani Mouradian, an accomplished pianist, educator, and student at Berklee College of Music, has un- veiled a compelling new research project exploring the powerful in- tersection of music, emotion, and the human brain. Originally devel- oped for her Music and Neurosci- ence coursework, the presentation is now available for public viewing online. Mouradian’s research ex- amines influential studies by neu- roscientist Valorie Salimpoor and colleagues, which demonstrate that highly rewarding musical ex- periences are directly linked to in- tense emotional arousal and the activation of the brain’s reward sys- tems. The findings offer a scientific explanation for why music has the universal power to inspire, comfort, motivate, and forge deep emotional connections across diverse cul- tures and generations.

“Music has the unique ability to connect people, transcend language, and profoundly impact our emotional well-being. Studying the neuroscience behind these experiences has strength- ened my appreciation for both the artis- tic and scientific power of music.” Based in Panama City, Florida, Mouradian has built a stellar reputation as a performer, collaborative pianist, and educator. Her extensive musical background includes prestigious per- formances at New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, appearances throughout Europe, and recognition in international piano competitions. She currently serves as a collaborative pia- nist with the Panama City Symphony Orchestra while simultaneously pursu- ing her advanced studies at Berklee. Through this project, Mouradian hopes to encourage musicians, educa- tors, and the public alike to explore the remarkable relationship between music, learning, and human potential, while highlighting the profound value of lifelong education.
